Thanks Foursquare for the FREE Breakfast

I’ve been using FourSquare for about a month now.  The first week my account laid idle while I waited for them to drop the Blackberry App for my Tour.

I’m not a social media expert (tired of people throwing that title around) but I love to embrace new technology.   Foursquare seemed to be the most popular location based social app that rewards it’s users for visiting new places and trying new things.  All done as you rack up points in the process.

It’s been about three weeks of earning badges, taking down Mayors and conquering new territory.  Pretty cut and dry.  A matter of fact, it was starting to get boring quickly.  ...Until, I pulled into RaceTrac this morning and decided to check in as I watched my SUV suck down half of my last paycheck.

Hmmm…  I never seen this before.  There was a new button on my screen that said “Special Here”.   After I clicked it, I was invited to come inside for a FREE French Toast Taquito.

The cashier seemed a little confused at first but was very polite and discounted down my French Toast Stick to $0.

There isn’t a shortage of useless apps out there but for the most part, Foursquare helped me get breakfast this morning at my local RaceTrac and it let's me keep tabs on local friends as they give me tips on where and where not to eat/visit.

From a business perspective, this is awesome and from a user’s perspective, I feel really appreciated as a patron.   As my son would say, double win!  Thanks Foursquare and Thanks RaceTrac!
